—Communications leader expresses appreciation to SCTE/ISBE for
decades-long partnership; showcases fiber connectivity solutions—
HICKORY, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
CommScope, a leader in communications network infrastructure solutions,
celebrates its 40th anniversary along with a decades-long
partnership and collaboration with the Society of Cable
Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE)
and its global arm, the International Society of Broadband Experts
(ISBE) at SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo.
"So much has happened in 40 years, and the SCTE/ISBE has been there
every step of the way," said Frank Drendel, CommScope
co-founder and chairman of the board. "One of the most significant
industry changes as we look back four decades was the rapid growth of
cable TV led by continuous technological advances. When CommScope was
part of the Cable Home Division of MA/COM, it helped create the digital
compression technologies in cable TV that ultimately enabled high
definition TV. That turned the industry upside down, and it never would
have happened without the support of SCTE/ISBE and CableLabs."
Since the creation of SCTE in 1969, its team has been a resource for the
cable telecommunications industry. Over the years, it has helped
CommScope navigate through professional development, standards and
certification processes, and training. In 2008, Drendel received the
SCTE Chairman's Award honoring individuals and organizations that have
demonstrated significant support for the society and its mission. In
particular, Drendel was recognized for helping consolidate industry
trade shows. Over the years, several CommScope employees have served on
the board and committees for SCTE/ISBE.
"CommScope is a pioneer in so many ways, and we're pleased to be its
partner," said SCTE/ISBE President and CEO Mark Dzuban. "The team lends
credibility and training prowess in ways that benefit every member of
our organization. We hope to collaborate with CommScope for another 40
years."
SCTE/ISBE Cable-Tec Expo Highlights
In the spirit of giving back and training the cable telecommunications
leaders of tomorrow, CommScope is Platinum sponsor of the sold-out
SCTE/ISBE Pre-Expo "FTTx Bootcamp" being held Sunday and Monday, Sept.
25 and 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in conjunction with Cable-Tec
Expo. Both days will provide attendees advancing their professional
expertise and gain certification with in-depth knowledge of FTTx
networks and comparisons with existing networks, such as hybrid fiber
coax; the advantages and disadvantages of each design; and best
practices for deploying and supporting FTTx.
CommScope will demonstrate its fiber connectivity solutions at Cable-Tec
from Sept. 26-29 at Booth #956, including a mini rapid distribution
terminal (RDT), fiber collection box, integrated FOSC450 with CWDM and a
mini fiber distribution hub (FDH). Additionally, CommScope's Vice
President of FTTx Solutions Mark Alrutz has also published a paper in
conjunction with the show and shares expertise on FTTx construction in
the last mile.
"We look ahead with anticipation to our next 40 years of service in
markets as dynamic and competitive as the ones we see today," said
Drendel. "SCTE/ISBE helps us do that. At the end of the day, it's not
just one person that sets the tone for this industry; it is the
collective wisdom of one group that sets the stage for future industry
leaders."
